Every quote needed a site visit, and half the visits were for jobs that never went ahead. Estimators spent their week driving to people who were only browsing.

An agent estimates sizes and styles, prices them from the company's own price list and drafts a quote range, with questions about anything it isn't sure of. An estimator checks it and sends it. Only serious inquiries get a site visit.
